Tool reference

The 18 tools the Finetuning MCP server exposes, and three worked flows

Every tool acts on the account that approved the agent. Costs are the same as the API: see Costs.

Tools

Tools marked async return straight away with a generation to wait on. Use wait_for_generation, or poll with get_generation / get_sound_effect.

The three creation tools preview their cost and accept max_cost. A call that would cost more than max_cost is refused before anything is created.

delete_generations is permanent. Ask your agent to confirm with you before it deletes anything.

Flow: write a song and wait for it

Ask: "Write an upbeat synth-pop song about a night drive, and don't spend more than 1 generation."

  1. get_account confirms you have generations left.
  2. create_track is called with your prompt and max_cost: 1. It previews the cost, creates the track and returns a generation id.
  3. wait_for_generation holds until the track is finished.
  4. The agent gives you the result. If it timed out, it calls wait_for_generation again, or get_generation to check.

Flow: make a sound effect

Ask: "Make a short door slam sound effect."

  1. create_sound_effect is called with the description. It draws from the daily sound-effect cap, not your generations.
  2. get_sound_effect is called until the clip is ready.
  3. If the daily cap is used up, the agent is told so and nothing is created. Try again the next UTC day.

Flow: download a certificate for a track

Ask: "Get the certificate for my latest track."

  1. list_generations finds the track.
  2. get_certificate is called with its id.
  3. The agent returns the certificate details and its public verification link. Certificates are free.

See Certificates for what a certificate does and doesn't say.
