What You Can Do (Paid Plans)

With a Plus or Pro plan, you can use your generated tracks for:

  • Social media — YouTube, TikTok, Instagram with monetization enabled
  • Streaming platforms — release on Spotify, Apple Music, and other DSPs via your distributor of choice
  • Podcasts — intros, outros, transitions, background beds
  • Advertising — digital ads, TV spots, radio, promotional content
  • Client work — deliver to clients with downstream use rights
  • Apps & games — in-app music and game soundtracks
  • Education — e-learning, corporate training, presentations

No attribution required. No royalties owed.

What You Cannot Do

These restrictions apply to all plans, including paid.

  • Resell as stock music — do not upload to stock music libraries or marketplaces
  • Claim exclusive copyright — tracks may be generated similarly by other users, so exclusive copyright ownership cannot be claimed
  • Train competing AI — do not use generated content as training data for competing AI music services

This is one of the most common licensing questions, so it's worth unpacking.

"Claiming exclusive copyright" means asserting that you are the sole owner of a track — the kind of right that lets you stop anyone else from using something similar. That's different from using your music: on a paid plan you can freely sell, stream, and monetize your tracks (see What You Can Do above).

You cannot claim exclusive ownership of the AI-generated audio itself for two reasons:

  1. Similar tracks may exist. Our model can generate a similar-sounding track for another user, so no one can claim a generated track is uniquely and exclusively theirs.
  2. AI-only audio generally isn't copyrightable. Copyright offices such as the US Copyright Office typically do not grant copyright to fully AI-generated audio because it lacks human authorship.

Lyrics or other original material you wrote remain yours — the restriction applies to the AI-generated audio, not to your own creative contributions.

This is the industry standard for AI music, not a Finetuning-specific limit — other generative music services grant a commercial license to use tracks rather than enforceable, exclusive copyright. You get full freedom to use and monetize your music; you just can't lock others out of similar AI output.

API Usage

The Finetuning.ai API is licensed for personal use and internal business use, including building tools or deliverables for your own clients.

You may not resell, rewrap, or expose the music generation API as a service to third-party end users — for example, building a competing music generation product on top of our API, or offering "generate a track" functionality to your own users as a paid or free feature powered by our endpoints.

Training Data

Finetuning.ai's models are trained on properly licensed material. Your tracks come with straightforward commercial rights without the complexities of traditional music licensing.
